Two Poster Ideas

3 comments:

  1. This is an excellent direction.

First of all, I'd consider printing and altering the images/type, then rescanning. It's really "clean" and could use some roughing up, especially considering the subject matter.

Consider the use of color. You could use just a hit of the blood red to great effect, and to contrast the black in these.

I'm torn between the two directions, there are aspects that are really successful in both.

What is really working is your use of negative space and composition. Very well-considered.

Typographically, I'd push the type stacking even further by increasing the size of the date to match the width of the rest of the information. It feels a little awkward the way it is, and you've handled the rest of the typography really elegantly.

Lastly, perhaps you could consider the type as an opportunity to hold a halftone image. Right now, there is no photographic element/halftone, and it would help satisfy that requirement.

    Nice work Meghan!

  2. One more thing:

Look at the order of your information: I'd suggest moving the festival name under the title, and the slogan to the top of the title to make more sense hierarchically.

  3. I really like your second poster with the counterforms transformed into weapons. It's a great way of revealing details of the movie.

I'd try and explore more typographic variety in the details of the festival. You've got a great opportunity to show me the voice/volume of that quote.
