One of my solutions that I worked on in class.  I layered the halftone images under my traced drawings of them.  I think I still need to work on the baby/car relationship and the type... Feedback would be great!

  1. I think it's really interesting, it may be interesting to play with a background color (paper) to bring things together?

  2. Perhaps if you made the car a little bit smaller, then it would give a better illusion that the car was further back into space. This could also allow more room for the "death race 2000" type (which is nicely done) Right now it seems a little crowded in that area.

The illustrations are great. I think your off to a great start.

  3. Interesting take. I'd explore the relationship even more between the baby and the car, the scale difference is important to suggest the baby is threatened by the car.

I find the type treatment for the title visually intriguing, but am not sure that it is quite working for this. I'd explore some other options that are stronger visually to complement the visual approach.

I'd also explore color, perhaps red instead of your black, and maybe on a yellow paper? Or just white may work.

Keep pushing this, it's got potential.

  4. I like the yellow green color you've got on the baby, it reminds me of road signs, so nice color choice. Overall, each element on your poster is visually eye catching so you're off to a great start.

I'd try and mess with your hierarchy. The baby seems really huge, and is fighting with the car for my attention. The car has so much personality so I'd really play that up.

Your Deathrace type relates well to the line drawing with the baby, but you might explore combining parts of it with the kind of type you've created in your festival details.
