I played around with the positioning of the objects in this one. I'm not sure if the color should be used less, or if the type needs to be knocked out in the secondary info, or the main title (or at all).
I changed the contrast on the helmet, and repositioned the type a little bit on this one. Not sure if the color is working yet, or where the subinfo should be. I tried aligning it to match her body, but the flow wasn't working very well.
For the hand-drawn aspect of the type, for both posters, I'm going to print it out and very lightly sand it before scanning it back in (don't have access to a printer/scanner until monday night)
I'm still undecided at this point which is the better direction to continue in for the final, but I think I've ruled out the first poster I turned in at full size on Thursday.
Also, Ryan, if we choose to print on toned paper, where should we buy it, and do you know of any restrictions the print lab has on printing with your own paper?
I really like the color you're using in the first poster, but I think the title & 3 icons could use a little space to breathe. They feel a bit claustrophobic running so close to the top and edges without actually bleeding.
ReplyDeleteIn the first poster, it might be nice to see the word "marathon" sit underneath the "midnight movie". I think that would make the typography look a little more unified as a whole.
ReplyDelete... I could be wrong, though.
I like the light green one. I like the way you're using the centered type as a loose grid for your imagery. One suggestion is that you could flip your cowboy hat so that the two "heads" are facing off on one another. It's always good to keep a viewer inside your layout, instead of giving them sight lines that take them off the page.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried centering the info text at all? It could add a nice symmetry to the poster.
