This is a nice take on the subject matter. I'd consider putting a couple really "male" images in to balance this out, it's pretty subtle with the crops so far.
You've edited out the face in all instances, but maybe a way to think about this is that each row of sections is part of the body, from head to feet, and this shows a mix of male/female to give it a progression.
Maybe even left/side, right side of the body framing and moving down...could be really, really cool.
In terms of color, what does this look like if it's pink squares on a white background? I think the contrast would really be striking.
The type approach is interesting, and I'd play with that some more for some other options.

The pink is a nice way to push the theme of the movie, but also consider your type as a way to express the female/male versus idea you've got going.
